Visitors:
19 people came by today. Sorry to those hoping to see a Golden Eagle. Today just didn't produce much of anything.
Weather:
More brilliant blue skies today. Any cloud cover detected was well offshore to the south and west. Temperatures were mild, in the 30s. Winds were persistent from the NW, becoming much stronger and shifting to more westerly during the afternoon. Heat shimmer was a slight issue today.
Raptor Observations:
Not a whole lot to report on today. The first couple of hours were quiet, with a small push of birds by hour three. Birds were spotted all over, heading due north, northwest and east. The pipeline may have dried up a bit locally. Due to the good stretches of weather we've had, a lot of birds may have moved out early, which may be why we had such a fantastic, above average start to the season. Hopefully the next wave is lining up somewhere to our south.
Non-raptor Observations:
Only 20 species were seen or heard today. A couple highlights were 3 Killdeer flying by and 8 Bohemian Waxwings which foraged for a few minutes in the Juniper bushes at the summit.
Predictions:
Tomorrow looks like it will be a little cooler, in the mid 30s, along with similarly strong winds from the northwest. Expect a few more clouds to be hanging around compared to today. Hopefully Derek and Jeannette will have better luck.
