Re: [Maine-birds] Portland white-fronted goose

Thank you for clarification. Now to slink away and amend that eBird report...

Hi all,

Unless there was originally a different bird, this is the same domestic-type white-fronted goose that has been here for many years, and regularly gets reported as a Greater White-fronted Goose. Marion Sprague just sent me photos of this expected, resident individual.

Of course, the two-bird theory might apply as there was a legitimate wild Greater White-fronted Goose here several years ago.

If we are talking about the goose with the three white domestic geese at the corner of Congress and Waldo St in Portland, I'm afraid that is some form of domestic goose hybrid rather than a true, wild Greater White-fronted Goose.

Continuing at same location as of 3:45pm. Great light for photos when it picks its head up.
