[Maine-birds] Redhead x Ring-necked Duck hybrid - Belfast, 4/5

Doug Hitchcox and I found a Redhead x Ring-necked Duck hybrid on Upper Mason Pond in Belfast on 4/5/19 at 12:30 pm.
The pond is small and easily viewable from the boat launch off of route 141.

While this Aythya amalgamation is a rather rare hybrid, representing the first Maine eBird report, it is not as infrequent of an occurrence as Chris Bartlett's Northern Pintail x Green-winged Teal hybrid from a few days ago, which was also a first eBird record in Maine. A good week for peculiar duck combinations.
With waterfowl on the move, it's a great time to get out and look for the oddballs.

Merry Migration,
Fyn
