Visitors:
14 people visited the hawk watch today.
Weather:
Warm weather and clear skies made for a beautiful day. Light to moderate southwest winds through the morning, turning south in the afternoon.
Raptor Observations:
Season high count today! Our first big push of Broad-winged Hawks came through today, as well as a heavy push of falcons. Favorable conditions produced a great flight today keeping us busy on the mountain.
Non-raptor Observations:
41 species were observed from the summit today. Individuals deemed migrating included: 111 Double-crested Cormorant 44 Tree Swallows 3 Brown-headed Cowbirds 7 Cedar Waxwings 4 Great Blue Herons 1 Purple Finch 1 Common Loon
Predictions:
Cooler tomorrow with plenty of sunshine. Winds are expected to be light out of the northwest shifting northeast by afternoon. After a great late day flight today, if winds stay light enough, I would image we will see some birds moving tomorrow.
