Visitors:
13 people visited the hawk watch today.
Weather:
A warm day on the summit. Winds started out the Northeast immediately shifting east, until shifting south through the afternoon. Winds were slightly stronger than predicted.
Raptor Observations:
Decent migration activity today. Broad-winged hawks dominated the numbers, not surprisingly. Many birds were pretty close to or flying right over the summit today offering good looks and observation.
Non-raptor Observations:
34 species were observed from the summit today. Individuals deemed migrating included: 2 Canada Geese 11 Double-crested Cormorant 18 Tree Swallows 1 Common Merganser 5 Yellow-rumped Warblers
Predictions:
Light southeast winds tomorrow, turning east by the end of the day. Precipitation is expected to hold off through day with potential increasing into the evening. With light southeast winds, it is likely we'll see some birds moving ahead of the encroaching weather system.
