Two common nighthawks over Buddie's in downtown Oakland tonight. I'll never forget the sight of 100+ migrating over the Kennebec last August. I'm keeping a lookout.
Our bluebirds fledged and are now hunting around the house, the hummingbirds are fattening up, the killdeer have disappeared (left or met another fate?), the kestrels have started hunting around our house (think they were unsuccessful this year), and we've had some huge flocks of bobolinks in the fields. Lots of sparrows (song, savannah, chipping) and finches about too.
