Two adult Mew/Common Gulls were seen well around 6pm August 5th by Iain Stenhouse (Biodiversity Research Institute) and Tom Robben from the Nova Star cruise-ferry just SE of Cushing Island as we approached Portland ME harbor. They flew very close to the ship and then headed north. Pale gray mantle and extensive black in wingtips suggests possible Larus canus canus (the "Common Gull" in UK, Europe, etc). Sorry for the delayed post.
