[Maine-birds] Marbled Godwit - Basket Island Causeway(Sandbar) - Still Hangin

For birding the Hills Beach area of Biddeford Pool, turn off Rt 9 onto Hills Beach Rd which is the entrance road to the University of New England. campus.

If you have the luxury of time( definitely the best option) park just north of Bufflehead Restuarant for the access path to Hills Beach and walk south on the beach to the extensive Basket Island Causeway/Sandbar, which is exposed at low water.

If you have limited time, however, as was the case for me today, continue down the road to where it forks. Take the left fork and you will soon find yourself near the water, just east of the Sandbar, with good scoping views of the entire Sandbar. At dead low water birds on the north side may not be visible.

Today, the "continuing" Marbled Godwit, an XXL size shorebird, with a distinctive profile, was on the land end of the bar.

Fa what its worth!
