Highlights from the past seven busy and birdy days, in addition to what I have already posted this week, included the following:
- 11 Brant, Dyer Point, Cape Elizabeth, 3/2 (with Kristen Lindquist).
- 3 Greater Scaup, Kettle Cove, Cape Elizabeth, 3/2 (with Kristen Lindquist).
- 1 Snowy Owl, Biddeford Pool, 3/3 (with Kristen Lindquist).
- 5 RUDDY TURNSTONES, 125+ Purple Sandpipers, 1 1st-winter Glaucous Gull, and 10 Brant, Ocean Avenue and East Point, Biddeford Pool, 3/3 (with Kristen Lindquist).
- 1 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK (dark morph), Wood Island as viewed from Vine's Landing and East Point, Biddeford Pool, 3/3 (with Kristen Lindquist).
- 1 Yellow-rumped Warbler (surprisingly, my FOY), Biddeford Pool neighborhood, 3/3 (with Kristen Lindquist).
- 7 1st-winter Glaucous Gulls and 17 Iceland Gulls (1 adult; 16 1st-winters), Old Port, Portland, 3/6.
- 1 Northern Shrike, our second of the winter here at the store, 3/6.
- 1 drake Barrow's Goldeneye continues in the Lower Harraseeket River here in South Freeport.
- other migrants noted widely this week: Canada Goose, Mallard, American Black Duck, and American Crow.
