Bruce Cole and I birded the Dixmont-Newport area this morning. Even with the wind, it wasn't bad for a mid-January day. Highlights included our first-of-the- winter flock of all-Bohemian Waxwings, about 120 birds along Rte. 7 just north of Plymouth village. Also, 35 Snow Buntings in another part of Plymouth (consistently present all winter), and about 100 of them in Troy, perched in a farmyard apple tree. One Robin in Detroit jogged memories of other non-winter seasons.
