As a sheet of skim ice develops around the shallower parts of the lake, 70+ American coots, 2 ruddy ducks and assorted divers (scaup, buffleheads, c. goldeneyes) remain. Some of the 100 or so Canada geese were unfazed as they as occupied body-sized holes in the ice fields.
