[Maine-birds] Red-shouldered x Red-tailed Hawk hybrid - Benton, 1/14

Kyle Lima, Louis Bevier and I observed the Red-shouldered x Red-tailed Hawk hybrid in the open area between 139 and School Drive in Benton from 9 to 10 am this morning.

This is now the fourth winter in a row this individual has been seen in this location. Closely associated with its presumable mate Red-tailed Hawk.

Other highlights in the area included 4 Barrow's Goldeneyes viewable from the River Road, along with a Hooded Merganser, and a selection of 270 Horned Larks, 14 Lapland Longspurs, and 130 Snow Buntings a half mile into the cornfields east of the Flood Brothers Farm.

Good birding,
Fyn
