Thx for the replies. It never entered my mind that there might also be COGEs. Pretty stupid of me. Females of both species can look an awful lot alike. My brother was completing a NC Big Year in 2018 and posted an extremely lengthy blog post about a bird he found that he was trying to make a Barrow's but was forced to acquiesce by the local birding nabobs and let it be a COGE. I'll have to go back and look more carefully.
