Weather:
Temperatures remained right at the freezing mark today but very light winds and clear skies made for a comfortable day. There was a slight haze in the air and the abundant sun distorted distant objects due to heat distortion.
Raptor Observations:
Day four and we're still hitting double digits. The day felt slower than the past few, as the bird per hour rate was much lower. Local birds were relatively active but overall there was a subdued vibe to the area. About half of the birds tallied today chose a flight line that took them inland, passing to the west side of the mountain. A Merlin was seen heading south in the morning before turning around and shooting back to the north.
Non-raptor Observations:
Another quiet day at the summit for Passerines and other northbound birds. A few people were delighted to see an Eastern Bluebird who stopped to perch in a small Birch tree.
Predictions:
Tomorrow looks to be rather calm for Jeannette and Derek, with a slight breeze from the northwest, which isn't a terrible direction for this site. The sun should be shining with minimal cloud cover. Temperatures should climb above freezing, into the mid to high 30s.
