[Maine-birds] Re: Steller's Sea-Eagle - 1 Jan updates

Caught sight of it in a tall spruce off Wood Island around 2p. Thanks to a bunch of birders off Harmon's Harbor Rd. It remained in the tree for t
the 30 min I was present. A landowner was kind enough to let us go out on his dock for an improved view.

We recently saw the eagle on Mink Island, perching with some bald eagles, but it flew off around 10:30, heading in the southerly direction towards Reid state park. We lost sight of it so no idea where it landed.

Cross posting that the Steller's Sea-Eagle was found shortly after 9:00AM from the Five Islands wharf (43.8238825,-69.70953), today, 1 Jan. I'm not in Georgetown today but can help post any major updates I see elsewhere on this listserv.

Also, here is a blog post I've been updating with information on parking/access, and has a summary of sightings from yesterday that may help give you an idea of where to look: https://maineaudubon.org/news/rare-bird-alert-stellers-sea-eagle/

Good luck!
