This bird had a black back, white chin, throat, breast and flanks. The head was held upright with the longish, pointed bill slightly tilted upward. The white throat extended back almost to the back of the neck, which was black. The most striking feature was the dark line that extended in an arc from the back of the eye down the side of the white neck just short of the black penisular that extends forward from the back, separating the white throat from the white breast(side view). A completely unexpected bird.
Wasn't able to get back on the other bird, due to the fact I was frozen solid from the biting wind. Hopefully the seas will subside and the birds will stick around providing better views....crossed fingers! rob speirs cumberland
