[Maine-birds] Golden Eagle in Maine

Though I missed the Golden Eagle that lingered around the Flood Farm (and others less widely publicized), I have remained determined to find one this year.

As many of you already know, Sea Turtle.org has a wonderful site which allows you to follow the movements of all kinds of critters with satellite transmitters on them...including some Goldens.  I have been following them...

One bird (named Virgil Caine) has a history of moving up and down the northern Appalacian Mts., from the Chic Chocs in the Gaspe, Quebec down to Virginia.  This eagle departed its wintering locale early this month and had apparently moved into north central Maine yesterday.

Check out the maps! (the animation is most current)

-1 again this AM in Woodland.

Cheers
Bill
