[Maine-birds] BLUESBIRD (Lincoln)- Rare

Tonight, around 8PM, we observed a small flock of BLUESBIRDS warming up under the lights in the Portland City Hall area.  A huge surprise was that we heard their call notes and songs, but most interesting of all, the songs and call notes of each individual bird were different from the others, but when sung together, were incredibly beautiful.  They departed around 10PM. The apparent Alpha male had a "band", in which a tightly cropped photo revealed the letters WYNTON (JLCO).

Evidently they are seen the in Lincoln Center area of New York City with a range spanning most continents. These jazzy little birds are worth the investment of driving long distances should you see a posting of their appearance, if for nothing else but to hear the symphony of their incredibly beautiful music.  For more specifics info on these birds, Google "WYNTON JLCO"
