[Maine-birds] TWO Connecticut Warblers, Fort Foster, Kittery, 9/13

Hi all,
Much to my delight, I found two CONNECTICUT WARBLERS at Kittery's Fort Foster this morning.

The first bird, possibly an immature male, walked out (my first clue!) on a low bush honeysuckle branch and then foraged on the ground, and even perched out in the open for multiple minutes.  Unfortunately, it was raining at the time, so my camera was in the car.

From the entrance road, walk towards the water until you reach the open lawn on your right, opposite the playground and behind one of the old bunkers.  At the corner of the road and the curving tree line, there's a Red Oak where Asiatic Bittersweet has been cleared from around it. The bird was at the back edge of the clearing.

A short while later, I was shocked to find a second bird, this a much duller-hooded individual. This time I was able to get a "record" shot by holding my phone up to my binoculars.  Jeannette cropped it for me and slapped it up on the store's Facebook page here:

This second bird was at the edge of the "Pier Pavilion" picnic area, essentially on the opposite side (and up a short hill on a gravel road; look for the "pavilion reserved" sign) of the playground from bird number one.

Otherwise, the park was exceptionally slow for migrants this morning.  In fact, other than plenty of Common Yellowthroats, a single Palm Warbler (my first of the fall in southern Maine) was the only non-Connecticut warbler that I saw.

One CASPIAN TERN and 3+ vociferous Carolina Wrens were the other highlights.
