York County
A SNOWY OWL continued to be seen near the Nubble Lighthouse in Cape Neddick as of the 7th.
Although it has not been seen since early January, a GOLDEN EAGLE was relocated in York when it was seen on the 3rd while floating down the York River, dining atop an ice flow.
A pair over YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKERS has overwintered along Park Street in Kennebunk.
Ocean Ave in Wells continues to host a SNOWY OWL that has been reported there “for several weeks.”
Rare in southern Maine this winter, a ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was seen over Wood Island from Vine’s Landing and East Point Sanctuary in Biddeford on the 3rd.
Greater Portland
An impressive 51 white-winged gulls were seen around Portland Harbor on the 2nd. This count comprised of 12 GLAUCOUS GULLS and 39 ICELAND GULLS.
Kennebec River Valley (Augusta-Waterville)
On the 3rd, a SNOWY OWL was photographed near the Skowhegan Area Middle School, located at 155 Academy Circle, Skowhegan.
Midcoast
Continuing from January 2nd, an immature RED-HEADED WOODPECKER was still being reported along Whiskeag Road in Bath as of the 5th. Most observations are close to the Whiskeag Creek, near the address: 166 Whiskeag Road, Bath.
Penobscot Bay
Two SNOWY OWLS continue to be seen at the Owl’s Head Airport as of the 1st.
A NORTHERN PINTAIL and an AMERICAN WIGEON continued to be seen in Camden Harbor this week.
Central Maine
Since November 12th, a NORTHERN HAWK OWL has been seen near the intersection of Route 116 (Penobscot Valley Ave / Route 95 Connector Road) and Route 2 (West Broadway). This bird reported again this week from the Airport Road and the previously mentioned intersection on the 4th.
Downeast
Four GADWALLS and an AMERICAN WIGEON were seen from Deep Cove Road in Eastport on the 3rd.
