[Maine-birds] Even more sparrow stuff plus some duck stuff

All day long today there was a feeding frenzy under our bird feeders.  A large mixed flock (at times 50+birds) of Song Sparrows, Dark-eyed Juncos and Fox Sparrows kept at it and we had to replenish the millet on the ground.

Also we drove from Harrington to Lubec today and there were hundreds if not thousands of sparrow flocks along the roadsides.

At least three male Barrow Goldeneye were on the river in East Machias today.  Just north of Whiting on Route 1 there was a flock of 12+ Bohemian Waxwings on the roadside.  And at Roque Bluffs State Park the ice is opening on the pond - several species of ducks there included a lone male Greater Scaup and 4 Green-winged Teal which contributed to our DUCK DAY - we saw 14 species of ducks in Washington County!
