Re: [Maine-birds] Shawmut Dam

Yesterday there was some activity out in the freshly spread manure.  I had 50+ Horned Larks, and a few Snow Buntings.  Could not drive my Jeep (or was a bit leery of doing so) too far out into the fields, so was not able to get close to any of the Larks.  There were probably a few Longspurs among them.  There usually are.  I also had several Song Sparrows, and one Savannah Sparrow.  In Waterville, along Riverside Dr., I found a male Wood Duck among all the Mallards and Blacks.

With no apparent activity at the Flood Farm in Clinton, my husband and I perused the Kennebec up the River Road and on 201 on New Years Day.  There was a single adult Bald Eagle sitting on the Ice near the Hinckley Mill.

Right below the Shawmut Dam from the boat launch, there were 75 +/- Common Goldeneyes diving.   They were too far away to see if there were any Barrow's.  Bring your scope to see them better.
