Hi all-
-- Stopped in at Blue Hill Falls in Hancock County and quickly found the drake King Eider in the large Common Eider raft on the ocean side of the stone bridge (here's the location). Also on the ocean side were a handful of Common Loons, Horned Grebes, and Common Goldeneye. The eiders were not particularly close to shore but the King was easily discernible with a scope.
On the other side of the bridge, looking in towards Salt Pond, was a flock of at least a dozen Barrow's Goldeneye, easily the largest group I've ever seen. There were several drakes and yellow-billed hens, and also some dark-billed female-types that were either first year drake BAGO or female COGO -- they were distant and I'm not experienced with splitting them.
Crummy photos on the eBird checklist here.
Good birding!
