Observation start time: 08:00:00 Observation end time: 16:00:00 Total observation time: 8 hours Official Counter Luke Fultz Observers: Brian Haley, Derek Lovitch, Ethan Whitaker, Jeannette Lovitch, Mathew Gilbert
Visitors:
23 people visited the hawk watch today.
Weather:
Not a cloud in the sky from the summit of Bradbury Mountain today. Cooler temperatures to start the day but the sunshine helped warm things up a bit during the day. light north winds and very good visibility all day.
Raptor Observations:
Raptor migration was on the lighter side, although, we did see good diversity of species moving throughout the day. Most exciting was our first two Merlin sightings of the season. Both were within the first hour of the count; one flew directly across the summit, offering an excellent observation.
Non-raptor Observations:
21 total species were observed from the summit today. Non-raptor species deemed migrating included: 39 American Goldfinches 6 European Starlings 3 Common Grackles 5 Purple Finches
Predictions:
Partly sunny skies in the forecast tomorrow, becoming cloudier as the day goes on. Southeast winds, although not favorable, may produce some migrants if they stay light enough. The day should stay dry, although there is a chance precipitation, ahead of the approaching system, could cut the count short.
