Visitors:
7 people visited the hawk watch today.
Weather:
Cooler spring day on the summit. Moderate to strong west winds through the day with intermittent heavy gusts in the afternoon.
Raptor Observations:
We have stopped counting Turkey Vultures on April 15. By this point in the season there are far too many locals in the area, to definitively separate and quantify migrants from locals. Another slow day for mid-April. Strong winds from the west, did not yield much migration activity.
Non-raptor Observations:
31 species were observed from the summit today. Non-raptor individuals deemed migrating included: 2 Double-crested Cormorant 1 Belted Kingfisher 3 Tree Swallows
Predictions:
A relatively colder day tomorrow with potential for some precipitation in the morning. Light to moderate northeast winds predicted. Likely another slow migration day but, depending on weather conditions and winds speed, we may see some birds moving.
