Visitors:
We had 2 visitors on this dreary Thursday.

Weather:
Despite the grey sky, visibility was decent when we arrived at the summit this morning. The precipitation south of us moved quickly north and cut off the supply of potential migrants. Eventually, grey skies turned to light mist and then light rain, and we abandoned the count at 1 pm due to the precip. Light winds out of the SW maintained throughout the count.

Raptor Observations:
No migrating raptors were observed today. We did observe 1 local Red-shouldered Hawk rising and soaring around in front of the summit.

Non-raptor Observations:
We observed a decent flight of blackbirds this morning, which slowed significantly as the morning progressed. Non-raptors deemed to be migrating are as follows: -Common Grackle (81) -Red-winged Blackbird (29) -Blackbird Spp. (441) -Canada Goose (73) -American Crow (20) -European Starling (4) A total of 13 species were observed from the summit, including a calling Red-bellied Woodpecker.

Predictions:
We look forward to a full day of counting tomorrow, with sunny skies in the forecast. If the north winds tomorrow stay lighter than currently forecasted, we can expect to see some migrating raptors. Otherwise it may be a long day of searching relatively empty skies. If nothing else, at least the summit is relatively sheltered from north winds.
