Visitors:
Today was relatively busy at the summit considering the cold morning temps, with 11 visitors stopping by.
Weather:
It was a beautiful blue-sky day up at the summit today, albeit a tad chilly in the morning. Temps started at 23 degrees and rose to 39 in the afternoon. Winds were moderate-to-strong out of the north all day.
Raptor Observations:
Raptor migration was slow today, as might be predicted given the stiff north winds. No new species for the season's count were observed today.
Non-raptor Observations:
Non-raptor migration was basically non-existent today. A lone American Robin was observed struggling northwards. A total of 16 species were observed from the summit, including a local Turkey Vulture trolling around the area.
Predictions:
Tomorrow is shaping up to be a great day for raptor migration. Raptors should be raring to migrate after the recent poor conditions and gentle-to-moderate west winds should shepherd them our way. Temps will be below freezing when we arrive but could top out near 50 degrees!
