Bradbury Mountain State Park
Pownal, Maine, USA
(No count conducted today)
Weather:
April snowstorms are not rare in Maine, but with the lack of snow over the winter and the early arrival of spring, it was still a little shock to the system. Rain arrived around 8:00am, turning to heavy wet snow - but rarely accumulated more than a thick coating - by 11:00am and continuing through day's end. If there's any snow on the ground by tomorrow morning, this will actually be the first time Andrew has seen snow at the mountain - it was all clear when we got going this year!
Raptor Observations:
Non-raptor Observations:
Predictions:
With the large area of low pressure slow to move out to sea, we expect an unsettled morning and perhaps a delayed start due to continued precipitation. Northeasterly winds will become northerly, which is more conducive to seeing a few birds get on the go, especially if it remains on the lighter side. We should also get a little partial clearing as the day goes on. Temperatures are forecast to only top out in the mid-40's however.
