[Maine-birds] Ring-necked Ducks in Brunswick

Hello all,
Despite the fact that eBird denotes this species as "infrequent" in my area, I've now seen Ring-necked Duck in two places (Botany Place pond in town, off Maine Street near Parkview Hospital--a few weeks ago) and now out in Cook's Corner in that little pond/cove across from the Mallett water store. I thought this was connected to a river, but it's just some disconnected water that forms three connected ponds. Does anyone call this area by some name? Google Maps doesn't show a name on it.

Anyway--there were two males and a female, all in their breeding best and just kinda floating along. I love this duck species (okay, I love ALL ducks) because the name really depends on your being really close to see the ring around the neck, while the rings on the bill and at the base of the bill are so clear. I'm always surprised this duck wasn't named Ring-billed Duck.

Good birding in this hellacious wind,
Delia in Brunswick
