[Maine-birds] Teal-Kennebunk

Good morning-It was indeed an endless winter but so far the rewards in West K. have been great...

I have had a greater variety of waterfowl passing through the cove in front of my home than in any other year. Had a pair of green winged teal at 6:30 today-first ever.Lots of hooded and common mergansers, m/f common goldeneye for several days, ringnecked duck, etc. along with the resident Canadian geese and wood ducks.

Woodcock are very plentiful this year; after several years of hearing just 1 or 2 at dusk the evenings this week have been filled with continuous whirrings and peents from every direction. While standing outside my door I counted at least 8 separate "peent" locations on both Weds. and Thurs. evenings. 4-5 flush  every day on the south facing hill by the river.

Another few days like this and the wait will have been worth it--what fun!
