[Maine-birds] New Hampshire Mississippi Kites update - 4 territories!

The kites have returned to nest in New Hampshire again this year and
it's exciting to report that there are at least 4 active territories
right now!  In addition, a 3rd bird has been seen at the sites in Durham
and Newmarket so there at least 10 birds in the State.

I visited each of the nests today and found 3 pairs incubating.  The 4th
pair is likely incubating as well, however I haven't found the nest
yet.  The locations are as follows:

DURHAM - The pair from last year has returned to the same nest site in a
white pine tree in the back of the home at #85 Madbury Road in Durham.
Viewing is best from the sidewalk across the street.  I'm not sure where
people are parking, but possible off side streets.  I visited today and
saw a bird incubating.  They started incubation between June 9 and
today.  I saw the home owners outside and swung by in my car and asked
them how things are going with all the kite watchers.  They didn't seem
to be phased so I guess they will be accommodating again this year.
PLEASE......you don't need the perfect photo.  Don't trespass!  Stay off
their lawn and don't go up their driveway under any circumstances!  Post
if there is a change in feelings by the home owners.

NEWMARKET - A pair has been found and the male and a 3rd bird (an
immature bird from last year) were there today.  But I haven't found the
nest yet.  The territory has moved slightly from last year's location,
but the territory is clear.  Hopefully the female is incubating
somewhere.  In recent weeks, the male has been seen bringing food to the
female and they have been seen copulating. We're keeping the location
low key/secret.

STRATHAM - The birds that failed last year have rebuilt a new nest in
the same location as they did in 2018 (where they were successful) a few
houses away!  I visited today and the female is incubating.  She
probably started incubating on June 9 or perhaps sooner.  We're keeping
this location low key/secret.

GREENLAND - A new pair and nest has been found thanks to Sheila
Graydon.   According to locals, it is possible these birds were also in
this area last year.  I visited today and found the female incubating
for the first time.  They started incubation between June 9 and today.
We're keeping this location low key/secret.

With incubation just beginning, we can expect, hopefully, a baby in each
of the nests in another month.
