[Maine-birds] Bath Gullage

There are now a few thousand gulls frequenting the Bath landfill.  Easiest way to check thru them all is to catch them when they are drifting down the Kennebec, loafing on ice floes.  Presumably these periods are when the bulldozer is not actively pushing the junk around on the mound.  (e.g. Sundays).  Pack ice is also building on the Day's Ferry side of the Kennebec, and sometimes scoping is best from that side of the river.

I have only found 2 Iceland Gulls so far this season, the most recent a very pale non-breeding adult yesterday.   The first Lesser Black-backed Gull (3W?) was also present yesterday.  But I have yet to see a Glaucous, despite five bouts of obs.  And the Ring-Bills at the water plant have not yet included a Black-Headed Gull, but they're worth checking.

Small flock (30) of BoWax were on Rt 128 (the Dresden Road) yesterday, near the huge, solitary Elm Tree by the Llama Ranch.
