[Maine-birds] Golden Eagle, Jan. 29

The daily report on the Golden Eagle continues. Marie Jordan, Pat
Sanborn, Kathy and Bill Dube and I saw it today (Jan. 29) at noon from
the Shawmut Dam. As Louis has pointed out we were first alerted when
the birds-gulls, crows and ducks went into the air. It was a little
sneaky as it flew very low over the field coming from the Flood Farm and
perched briefly in an evergreen tree at the edge of the river (east
side). It then flew over the dam and behind it where we lost sight of
it. It was next seen flying and soaring upriver. After it reached a
high altitude it flew quickly back downriver where it circled high above
the dam then glided directly over our heads and disappeared to the west.
Exciting to watch this bird which is so identifiable at such long
distances. Definitely go see it if you haven't already.
