Re: [Maine-birds] Thick-billed Murre, Rockland

I too saw that murre from the breakwater - was rather surprised to find one so close to shore. I also had two or three other murre or razorbill sized alcids, which were pretty close to the limits of what I could see even with the scope - had to pass on a positive i.d. of any of them, but am pretty confident (85 - 90%) that one was a razorbill. There were also fair numbers of "the usual suspects" - common loons, red-breasted mergansers, black guillemots, long-tailed ducks, common eiders, surf scoters, purple sandpipers, horned grebes, etc.

Subject: [Maine-birds] Thick-billed Murre, Rockland

About noon today I scoped a Thick -billed Murre from the breakwater in Rockland Harbor.  I was on the very beginning of the breakwater and the bird was directly in front of me, easily in range of my scope.
