[Maine-birds] redpolls and pine grosbeaks

After several weeks without redpolls, they returned this morning before it was fully light -about 3 dozen.

Wandering around central Maine today, I had a bald eagle perched above Messalonskee stream just below the dam in Oakland, and a baker's dozen pine grosbeaks on Elm St. in Waterville just past the library.

My feeders were busy all day: chickadee numbers have swelled to 10. All the usual suspects were there too (cardinal, tufted titmouse, pair of w.b. nuthatches, both downy and hairy woodpeckers and three bluejays--nothing unusual, but a lot of birds coming and going).
