[Maine-birds] MACHIAS SEAL ISLAND REPORT

Temperatures continously above freezing for some 48 hours have eaten away at the snow and ice enough that much of the lawn grass is showing through and shoreline ice is almost walkable.
The forecast of continued mild weather through Monday may rid us of much of our snow cover. Fingers crossed.

Bird life remains pretty much the same except that 1 SNOWY OWL appeared today and the lone SNOWBUNTING has been joined by 5 others.

A few minutes ago I spotted a falcon setting down near the shore. Likely a PEREGRINE but size brings visions of a Christmas GYRFALCON dancing in my head.
It's late in the day, so hopefully it will hang around for better viewing tomorrow.
