[Maine-birds] bluebirds and others

It's very birdy at my house in Sidney this a.m. I had a female purple finch show up for the first time this winter along with the mob of goldfinches and usual feeder birds (titmice, chickadees, wb nuthatches).

But the bluebirds are the bigger story. They are already defending a nestbox. It was interesting that a) it's only the end of February and they have already picked this one out and b) they drove off a starling who was investigating and a blue jay (?) who wouldn't nest in it anyway. Also it is a group of three bluebirds and not just a pair. Stay tuned.
