[Maine-birds] Re: Rough-legged Hawk/Richmond

Sean, thanks for posting several times about the Rough-legged. A beautiful bird! I agree wholeheartedly. Danny Danforth and I drove to Richmond today and relatively quickly spotted it a fair distance away (good scope views though), across an open field from Weeks Rd about 100 yds north of its intersection with Beedle Rd. It swooped to the ground out of sight for a moment then reappeared, empty-taloned, in a neighboring tree. After 20-30 minutes it took flight, soaring ever higher overhead in graceful arcs, until it disappeared to the SE.
