[Maine-birds] Register for the Maine Bird Atlas 2020 Season Kickoff Meeting (April 4)

Hi everyone:

Registration is now open for the Maine Bird Atlas 2020 Season Kickoff Meeting!

This will be an opportunity for beginners and experienced birders alike to network, get questions answered, and coordinate our field efforts to gather information that will guide bird conservation efforts for the next generation. Completing the Maine Bird Atlas over the next three years will require careful planning and coordinating to ensure atlasing efforts are being done efficiently and effectively. Whether you are a casual bird watcher or an atlas enthusiast, come strategize with us to make 2020 the best atlasing year so far! Free lunch and snacks provided.

(Sign up early! The first 50 registrants will be entered in a raffle for exclusive atlas gear, species sponsorships, and more!)

Event Topics:
• Keynote Speaker: Ian Davies (eBird Project Coordinator, Cornell Lab of Ornithology).
• Exciting results from the first 2 seasons.
• Strategy for what's left to accomplish.
• Atlas topics from atlasing basics to documenting rare birds and data quality issues
• Special Species Surveys and Guidance
• Advanced Atlasing Workshop: Block busting, advanced breeding codes, and Atlas ninjas.
• Intermediate Atlasing Workshop: Strategies for completing your atlas block, block completion requirements.
• Getting Started with Atlasing Workshop: Intro to breeding behaviors, getting started with eBird.
When: April 4th, 2020, 8:30am-4:30pm
Where: Ostrove Auditorium, Diamond Building, Colby College
