We hope you can join us on Dec. 3 for a celebration of Maine birds and Maine birders.
I hope you've heard about the publication of Birds of Maine, the comprehensive new overview of Maine birdlife authored by the late Peter Vickery. A team of birders and loved ones banded together when Peter passed away in 2017 to bring the book across the finish line.
On Dec. 3 at 7pm Maine Audubon is hosting a virtual book launch to celebrate the life of Peter Vickery and the completion of Birds of Maine. The event is free to join.
Speaking at the event will be a host of luminaries directly involved in the production of Birds of Maine, including:
Barbara Vickery, Peter's life partner and former conservation biologist for TNC
Scott Weidensaul, author of more than 30 books on birds and nature
Jeff Wells, National Audubon Society
Bill Sheehan, ME Dept. of Environmental Protection
Charles Duncan, Shorebird Recovery Project
Please register here for this free event, where we'll raffle off a free copy of the book and also raise a toast to Peter and the team at the end.
