[Maine-birds] Reid Popham Seabirds 11/10

What a haul yesterday:  red necked grebes at Popham and Reid, boatload of buffleheads at Parker Head Road, two large adult bald eagles sitting companionably at the top of a dead tree, 2 does crossing the road, meadowhawks (dragonflies) still flying at Reid, common goldeneyes and red breasted mergansers at Reid.

Here's what Kevin Rogers wrote into the Maine Rare Bird Alert group:

"Heather has graciously agreed to allow visitors to see the Bullock's Oriole visiting her feeders. Please be super respectful! She has asked if visitors could send her some photos of the bird and any other birds in her yard. Please send them to Heatherbakerfreeport AT icloud DOT com

"Please limit visits to between 9am and 3pm. Heather lives at 27 Spring Hill Lane, Freeport. She says there is plenty of parking in front of her house. Birders may walk around either side of her house (please don't wander the yard) to view the feeders that are on the backside of the house and about 11' from the ground. Please minimize disturbance to her native plants and water features."

He also added this in the comments:

"FYI - Heather was a bit apprehensive about having visitors in her yard. It sounds like she is mainly a feeder watcher and is very passionate about her yard birds and does a lot to minimize disturbance to them. I think it would be great if we could get her as many high quality photos of birds in her yard as we can. I think she might like to see eBird checklists with photos added to as many species as possible. She specifically mentioned that she's unhappy with her camera gear and she has trouble getting photos of sparrows. I think this would be a great way to thank her for her hospitality! "
