Mark, that makes me chuckle.......
A one night stand with a whip-poor-will outside your guest bedroom window is an awesome experience of bird vocalization. WOW!!!!!!!!! when do they breathe ?
6 weeks and counting of 9 P M and 3 AM whip-POOR-Will ad nauseum ??????? I'm jaded. String me up.
Yessuh. I can count on that like I can count on my alarm clock, but the Alarm clock is set for 5:30 AM not 3 AM.
She/He/They are nested deep in a wild Rugosa Rose /Raspberry thicket that seriously needs shovel pruning. Overgrown and my bad on that. Right habitat and I own it. I shouldn't be complaining.
They'll just have to move across the " driveway" to the knotweed/alder thicket, 10 feet over into still " edge" territory. I don't own that part. TS for me, as that
isn't much further from my window.
It is better this week as I have a box fan in that window, so some " white noise" to dampen the choral enthusiasm.
Oh, but rats....... makes it hard to hear the real alarm clock.
Thats kinda why I have a dog, he has his own alarm clock and shares his needs in a non vocal manner.
THWAP with the paw . UP OUT NOW.
OK Ok.
I don't think I'm crazy, but others might disagree.
All in good humor.

Went to Chelsea last night with Skip and Linda to check out the Whip-Poor-Wills in my friends back yard. We heard one very close to his house right off then he kept moving around and never got a visual, still an awesome bird to hear vocalizing !Mark R Hoffman
