Don Mairs, Louis Bevier and I took John Drury's boat out of Vinalhaven on the afternoon of 7/28 and had tremendous views of the Red-billed Tropicbird on Seal Island. We had the bird for about an hour flying and sitting on the water as it spent much of that time harassing the nesting terns. That was my fourth time trying for this bird over the years.
Other birds seen en route were -
2 Pomarine Jaegers
8 Great Shearwaters
2 Manx Shearwaters
200+ Wilson's Storm-Petrels
A few migrant shorebirds were passing by or at the island - Short-billed Dowitchers, Least Sandpipers, Semi Sandpipers, and Ruddy Turnstones.
And of course the regular nesters on Seal Island were Common and Arctic Terns, Puffins, and both Cormorants, along with a couple Peregrine Falcons. (I missed the Razorbills.)
