[Maine-birds] Re: RFI: Late August Birding

Thanks to everyone who replied, I think I have a better understanding of Maine now and as a result we've narrowed down our goals. We will stay closer to the coast and the land mammals will wait for another trip unless we happen across them. We will let everyone know if we find anything unique!
Current Plan:
Day 1: Qouddy Head Park\ Lubec.
Day 2: Campobello
Day 3: Grand Manan \ overnight
Day 4:Whale Watch \ return to Lubec after taking later ferry
Day 5: Begin heading back hopefully time for a short hike or overlook \ overnight near Acadia
Day 6: Visit Acadia
Day 7:Depart after morning hike
If anyone has any other suggestions, please let us know

We will be in Maine the last week of August, probably leaving the 1st or 2nd of September. I would appreciate any local advice members may be able to offer (bare in mind I am a novice birder).  I made a list of species we'd like to see, from most to least but we probably won't spend time on low probability items.. ie if we don't locate a known hot spot there's nothing on the list that is a must see for us and we'll be happy to locate even one thing on the list! We have not chosen any destinations yet. If anyone would be so kind as to offer specific advice on these species or general advice to make our trip more productive it would be greatly appreciated.

Spruce Grouse
