Re: [Maine-birds] Mystery Heron in Scarborough Marsh, 7/30

"Of course, that begs the question of whether or not this bird just fledged off of Stratton Island! "

I am wondering if you can follow up on this statement wondering if it is not a recently fledged bird....  Just looked at your pictures Derek... From your photos this looks like a large bird... almost Wundemann's Heron  size .....especially in the images with Great Egret in the background.. it looks larger than Little Blue ...from the photos... A great Blue Heron morph??  Just my .2 cents work.

Subject: [Maine-birds] Mystery Heron in Scarborough Marsh, 7/30

Hi all,
Earlier today I photographed a most unusual - but rather beautiful! - wading bird in Scarborough Marsh.  At the moment, I am proposing a juvenile Little Blue Heron x Tricolored Heron hybrid.  Here are some photos (with a link to others) and my thoughts on this interesting bird:

Comments and suggestions as to this bird's age and identity are most welcome!
