A black-headed gull put on a very nice show for us at Owl’s Head harbor at lunchtime today. He came close to shore, and even out of the water so that we could see his bright red legs. He finally took off from near the main dock and headed for the impoundment. We saw a bird there all last winter but haven’t caught one in Owl’s Head this season until now.
Also had a first year bald eagle at Weskeag Marsh in S. Thomaston, and 4 hooded merganser hens and a drake common goldeneye in the open water near the water treatment outflow on Washington St. in Camden.
