Had good looks at an adult northern shrike about 2 this afternoon. My feeder birds had been "alarming" off and on all day, yet I could not see a predator about. Had my "ah ha" moment in the adjacent field to my yard. It was snacking on a fruit from my Red Bud tree(tough eating)then headed for the highest tree to survey the area.
Also was visited by 3 red bellied woodpeckers-my 2 regulars and a visiting male. Last I saw he was being resolutely chased by the resident male...
