Comments: There were many birds on the water here today and the best surprise was a Thick-billed Murre photographed and observed as it swam towards Old Soaker. The TBMU was first located on the MDI side of Newport Cove than it began to move slowly towards the west and Old Soaker. It appeared to be alone. This bird is easily discerned from Dovekie by size and plumage. There was also Bufflehead swimming with the TBMU.....very cool.
