[Maine-birds] Re: FW: Snowy owl in Unity

An owl was found at Unity Pond by Dave Potter at 9:00 AM yesterday (probably the same bird).  I saw it around 3:30, in the place he found it (on the trestle along the RR tracks).  I watched it fly eastward possibly in response to someone walking southward along the tracks from Burnham.  It appeared to be a dusky immature male but the view was distant so couldn't say for sure.  Hope it stays for Christmas count!

Good birding,

Subject: Snowy owl in Unity

Hi Bob,

Got a pretty good look at a large white owl in Unity this afternoon, in open fields off Rt. 220, about 2 miles south of the junction with Rt. 9/202. Any other sightings reported?

This is very exciting for me as it is my first time seeing this owl!
