Re: [Maine-birds] Snowy Owl art

Hello all:

I meant the attached as an homa'ge to Andrew Wyeth, little knowing what Philistines I was dealing with.  It went un-noticed until Rob's "owl on a clay-shack" was recently unearthed.

And Kudos to Bill for scoring that C-.  A real challenge if his course (like mine) was delivered in an overheated room, with the lights down low, and a really drone-like teacher requiring that we memorize artist, title, year, and in what museum it presently resides.

(Curious how long Doug lets this thread run)

Bill;
That's classic!
I'll slip it into my wife's bookie club stuff, in hopes they can spend an evening interpreting it.

Hahahahahahaha...The trick with the French Impressionist Photographic genre - as I make this up - is for the subject to be a minimum of one mile away with much moisture in the air...a la heat shimmer, creating an "impression" of the subject.

Enhancement software can further improve that amorphous speck into a more recognizable "impression" of something that hopefully matches your expectations, while preserving the thin, small stroked appearance of the impressionistic painter's brush. Wear a black beret.

As for Bill Sheehan's photo, I drove up to the County after his post, but could not find the Blue Arrow. It would have been a lifer. I think Mike's got an albino woodchuck peering out of its hole, or a mooring ball adrift in high seas, or something else altogether which is typical of a modernist's abstractions.  It's left for you to decide and, to make your own.

Bonne observation des oiseaux!

During the great Snowy Owl invasion of 2013, Maine's photographers rose to prominence.

French impressionist photography was led by Ahrr Speirs:

The artist Being Sheehan combined effets de soir with avant garde clip art, a technique not even conceived of by Andy Warhol:

[It should be noted that this is a direct rip-off of Seitzism http://www.flickr.com/photos/grallaria/8534353133/]

Then came the modernists with their abstract expressionist flair led by M'fahay:

Thanks to the great art critic and scholar Trevoir Persons for inspiration and guidance with this review.
